Catherine Tresa is an Indian film actress and model, who appears in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films.Catherine was born to Malayali Roman Catholic parents Frank Mario Alexander and Tresa Alexander in Kottayam, Kerala.[1] The family later settled down in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where Catherine grew up.[2] She said, "I don’t speak fluent Malayalam, it’s mostly English that we speak at home. I speak decent Hindi though and now I’m taking lessons in Telugu".[1] She did her Grade Twelve in Dubai and moved to Bangalore for higher education. She studied for two years in St. Joseph's College, Bangalore.[3]
While studying, she pursued extra-curricular activities.
She learnt to play piano, and got trained in singing, dancing, ice skating and debating,[1] stating that she believes that she is "good at anything I put my mind to".[4] In Dubai, Catherine was an Emirates Environment volunteer. At the age of 14, Catherine did some amateur modelling for fashion design graduate students.[5] After coming to India, she modeled for Nalli Silks, Chennai Silks, Fast Track, Josco Jewellers and Deccan Chronicle. She has also shot for Srikantadatta Wodeyar's Maharaja Calendar and had participated with Prasad Bidapa in many ramp shows in many cities.[5][6]Catherine Tresa made her acting debut in 2010 Kannada film Shankar IPS opposite Duniya Vijay.[3] Catherine went on to act in the Malayalam films, The Thriller and Uppukandam Brothers Back in Action.[7] In 2011, she did a role in the Kannada film Vishnu that she said was "equally opposite to her real life".[8]
It was followed by the Kannada film Godfather opposite Upendra, which was directed by cinematographer turned filmmaker Sethu Sriram. Catherine's character in the film was that of an older mentally challenged woman.[9] Her performance earned her her first nomination for an award in the Best Supporting Actress category at the 60th Filmfare Awards South.
She next signed up for Chammak Challo directed by Neelakanta, in which she played "an urbane, bold and dynamic girl".[10] It released in February 2013 and failed at the box office,[4] but she got noticed and received positive reviews. APHerald.com called her "a treat to watch"[11] and 123telugu.com noted that "she has the potential to be a superstar in future if she plays her cards right".[12]
Catherine played one of the female leads in Puri Jagannath's Telugu film Iddarammayilatho.[13] The film released in June 2013 and won her rave reviews. Times of India reported "Catherine Tresa perfectly suits the character of Akanksha".[14] Shirirag.com called her "cigarette smoking hot"[15] while Idlebrain Jeevi in his review noted "with a bit of fine-tuning she can become big in Telugu films".[16]
She next appeared in Paisa by Krishna Vamsi playing a Muslim in the film, "who is sweet, very inhibited and talks a lot with her eyes" and called it "a total contrast to what I play(ed) in Chammak Challo".[17] In 2014, she made her foray into the Tamil film industry with Madras in which she starred opposite Karthi.[18] The second Tamil film is the S. Thanu production, Kanithan directed by debutant Santosh in which she will be starring opposite Adharvaa.[19] She has been signed for two Telugu films: Gunasekhar's Rudhramadevi,[20] touted to be the first Indian 3D historic film,[21] and Errabus which is being directed and produced by Dasari Narayana Rao.[22]

Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) is a Marxist–Leninist political party in India. The party was founded on 19 March 1940 and has its roots in the Bengali liberation movement Anushilan Samiti and the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army. The party got around 0.4% of the votes and three seats in the Lok Sabha elections in 1999 and 2004. It is part of the state government in Tripura (as of June 2011).A major section of the Anushilan movement had been attracted to Marxism during the 1930s, many of them studying Marxist–Leninist literature whilst serving long jail sentences. A minority section broke away from the Anushilan movement and joined the Communist Consolidation, and later the Communist Party of India. The majority of the Anushilan Marxists did however, whilst having adopted Marxist–Leninist thinking, feel hesitant over joining the Communist Party.[3].The Anushilanites distrusted the political lines formulated by the Communist International. They criticised the line adopted at the 6th Comintern congress of 1928 as 'ultra-left sectarian'. The Colonial theses of the 6th Comintern congress called upon the communists to combat the 'national-reformist leaders' and to 'unmask the national reformism of the Indian National Congress and oppose all phrases of the Swarajists, Gandhists, etc. about passive resistance'. Moreover, when Indian left-wing elements formed the Congress Socialist Party in 1934, the CPI branded it as Social Fascist.[4] When the Comintern policy swung towards Popular Frontism at its 1935 congress, at the time by which the majority of the Anushilan movement were adopting a Marxist–Leninist approach), the Anushilan Marxists questioned this shift as a betrayal of the internationalist character of the Comintern and felt that the International had been reduced to an agency of Soviet foreign policy.[5] Moreover, the Anushilan Marxists opposed the notion of 'Socialism in One Country'.However, although sharing some critiques against the leadership of Joseph Stalin and the Comintern, the Anushilan Marxists did not embrace Trotskyism. Buddhadeva Bhattacharya writes in 'Origins of the RSP' that the "rejection of Stalinism did not automatically mean for them [the Anushlian Samiti] acceptance of Trotskyism. Incidentally, the leninist conception of international socialist revolution is different from Trotsky's theory of Permanent Revolution which deduces the necessity of world revolution primarily from the impossibility of the numerically inferior proletariat in a semi-feudal and semi-capitalist peasant country like Russia holding power for any length of time and successfully undertaking the task of socialist construction in hand without the proletariat of the advanced countries outside the Soviet Union coming to power through an extension of sociaist revolution in these countries and coming to the aid of the proletariat of the U.S.S.R."Anushilan Marxists adhered to the Marxist–Leninist theory of 'Permanent' or 'Continuous' Revolution. '...it is our interest and task to make the revolution permanent' declared Karl Marx as early as 1850 in course of his famous address to the Communist League, 'until all more or less possessing classes have been forced out of their position of dominance, the proletariat has conquered state power, and the association of proletarians, not only in one country but in all dominant countries of the world, has advanced so far that competition among the proletarians of these countries has ceased and that at least the decisive productive forces are concentrated in the hands of the proletarians.'"[6].By the close of 1936 the Anushilan Marxists at the Deoli Detention Jail in Rajputana drafted a document formulating their political line.
